Caring for Your Leather Bag

Beyond the Fabric: Exploring the Art of Style

1. Clean Gently, Not Aggressively
Leather is porous and sensitive to harsh chemicals. To clean:
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust and dirt weekly.
- For deeper cleaning, dampen a cloth with lukewarm water and mild soap. Gently wipe, then dry immediately.
- Avoid soaking or scrubbing—water stains and abrasions are hard to reverse.
2. Condition Like You Mean It
Leather dries out over time, especially in hot or dry climates. Conditioning restores its natural oils and keeps it supple.
- Apply a leather conditioner every 2–3 months.
- Use a pea-sized amount and rub it in with a soft cloth.
- Let it absorb overnight before using the bag again.
3. Protect from the Elements
Rain, sun, and humidity can wreak havoc on leather.
- Use a leather protector spray to guard against moisture and stains.
- Store your bag in a cool, dry place—never in direct sunlight.
- If it gets wet, blot (don’t rub!) with a dry cloth and let it air dry naturally.
4. Store Smartly
When not in use, your leather bag deserves thoughtful storage.
- Stuff it with tissue paper to maintain its shape.
- Keep it in a dust bag or pillowcase—avoid plastic, which traps moisture.
- Don’t hang it for long periods; it can stretch the straps.
5. Handle with Care
Small habits make a big difference:
- Avoid overstuffing—it strains the seams and warps the shape.
- Keep pens, makeup, and liquids in separate pouches to prevent spills.
- Rotate your bags to give each one a break.
